Games Too Expensive, Says Namco Bandai
If you like to complain how video games are getting more and more expensive then you are not alone. In face, even Namco Bandai, a publisher who sells downloadable content also admits that today’s video games are getting quite expensive.
According to Vice President Olivier Comte, it’s highly recommended that gaming companies should consider lowering the price of video games in order to accommodate the needs of consumers. Comte said that recent prices of game titles may sound fair to manufacturers (what with development costs and such) but he admits that even those prices are simply too much for the average gamer.
Comte suggested lowering prices from £40 to at least half of this. However, he also says that when this does happened, games won’t be able to provide 15-hour game plays. Instead, the hour would be reduced to about give hours of game play and the rest can be supplied by DLC.
The results of such talks are something that gamers would definitely watch out for. Several titles were recently released this week, among them the much-awaited Prince of Persia and Alan Wake. Each title costs a whopping $180, not a small price especially in these times of economic hardships. Most gamers are saying that it’s the gaming companies’ responsibility to find a way to make their games more affordable instead of counting on consumers to have the money to afford these products.
